Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, there were 739,823 people that identified as Non-Hispanic White alone in South Dakota and they represented 80.47% of the total population of South Dakota in 2023. Minnehaha County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic White alone population (163,757), followed by Pennington County (91,816), and Lincoln County (65,899). On the other hand, Buffalo County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic White alone (285), followed by Ziebach County (632), and Mellette County (732).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic White alone, Faulk County had the highest percentage (95.17%), followed by Edmunds County (95.1%), and Hand County (94.43%).
