Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2022, among all Michigan counties, Chippewa County had the highest percentage of its population who identified their ethnicity as Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native (16.26%), followed by Mackinac County (15.61%), and Baraga County (13.35%).
