Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2011, among all US states and DC, New York had the highest number of people who identified their race as Black or African American Alone (3.41M), followed by Florida (3.16M), and Texas (3.14M).

On the other hand, Montana had the lowest number of people that identified as Black or African American Alone (4.92K), followed by Wyoming (5.46K), and Vermont (6.82K).
