Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, among all US states and DC, Texas had the highest number of people who identified their race as Non-Hispanic Black or African American (3.87M), followed by Georgia (3.54M), and Florida (3.48M).

On the other hand, Wyoming had the lowest number of people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American (5.92K), followed by Montana (6.38K), and Vermont (9.55K).
