According to the US Census Bureau estimates, 1,536,333 (11.99%) of the 12,809,107 Pennsylvania population in 2018 identified as Black or African American alone.

Philadelphia County had the highest number of African Americans (696,392), and African Americans constituted 43.9% of the county's population. Other counties with high number of African Americans include: Allegheny County (163,627) - 13.44% of the county's population, and Delaware County (126,741) - 22.41% of the county's population.
