Trend of US Population 65 Years and Above By Generation (Foreign-Born)

According to data from the US Census Bureau, in 2024, the US first generation (foreign-born) population 65 Years and Above was 8,673,000 (16.9% of US first-generation population). The second generation 65 Years and Above population was 3,418,000 (8.2% of US second-generation population). And, the third-and-higher generation population 65 Years and Above was 47,150,000 (19.7% of US third-and-higher-generation population).

NB: Universe is the civilian noninstitutionalized population of the United States, plus members of the Armed Forces living off post, or with their families on post, with at least one civilian adult. "First-generation" refers to those who are foreign born; "second generation" refers to those with at least one foreign-born parent; "third-and-higher generation" includes those with two US native parents.
