Recall Description:

PRODUCT: ATVs - Polaris Industries Inc., of Minneapolis, Minn., is recalling about 56,000 2000 and 2001 Polaris Xpedition 325, Trail Boss 325, and Magnum 325 all-terrain vehicles ("ATVs"). These products are 4-wheeled vehicles intended for use in off-road areas. Polaris dealers nationwide sold these vehicles from January 1999 through August 2000 for approximately $6,000.PROBLEM: The ATVs may have loose or leaking oil cooler line clamps, that can release hot, pressurized oil. This may lead to thermal burns, to engine failure due to oil pressure loss and, in rare circumstances, could cause a vehicle fire.INCIDENTS/INJURIES: Polaris Industries Inc. has received 1,290 warranty claims or service calls pertaining to the loose or leaking oil cooler line clamps. There have been 20 minor injuries associated with oil line failures; these injuries have been first or second degree burns, bruises and skin rashes resulting from the leaking oil.WHAT TO DO: If consumers have not had this work already performed, they should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact their local Polaris dealer to schedule an appointment for a free repair.
