In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Deere & Company of Moline, IL is voluntarily recalling 4,400 John Deere GX85 and SX85 Riding Lawn Mowers. The fuel tanks can crack and leak fuel, presenting a potential for fire or burn injuries.Name of Product: John Deere GX85 and SX85 Riding Lawn MowersUnits: 4,400Manufacturer: Deere & Company of Moline, ILHazard: The fuel tanks can crack and leak fuel, presenting a potential for fire or burn injuries.Incidents/Injuries: John Deere is aware of 37 instances of replacement of the fuel tank under warranty. There have been no reports of fires, injuries or property damage.Description: The recalled lawn mowers are green with yellow trim and have either GX85 or SX 85 on the side of the riding mower and a John Deere symbol on the front end and involve the following machines:ModelSerial NumbersGX85M0GX85X145887 through 149328SX85M0SX85X125374 through 126508Sold at: Authorized John Deere dealers in the United States and Canada from November 2003 through July 2004 for between $2,000 and $2,400.Manufactured in: United StatesRemedy: The company is directly notifying those consumers who purchased affected mowers.
