WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.Name of Product: Hickory handle sledge hammersUnits: About 15,000Importer: White Cap Construction Supply Inc., of Costa Mesa, Calif.Hazard: The head of the sledge hammer can loosen and detach, posing a risk of impact injury to consumers.Incidents/Injuries: None reported.Description: This recall involves Brigade sledge hammers with a hickory wood handle. There are 11 models included in this recall, ranging in size from 2 to 20 lbs. A green and white label with the word "Brigade" and the model name is affixed to the head of the sledge hammer, and "Genuine Hickory" is printed on the handle.
