CPSC Recall in 2011: Christmas Tree Shops Recall Animated Safari and Aquarium Lamps Due to Fire and Shock Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Defective wiring in the lamps can cause an electrical short, posing fire and shock hazards to consumers.

Christmas Tree Shops has received three reports of sparking. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
Christmas Tree Shops stores primarily in the New England, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions from December 2009 through May 2011 for between $7 and $8.
