Electric Vehicle Charging Station Shock Hazard

EV-Charge America Ltd. (EVCA) is recalling certain electric vehicle charging stations produced from May 15, 2009, through August 15, 2012. Due to an improper relay, the electrical lead that connects to the vehicle may be energized even when the charging station is turned off.

Consequence Summary:
A user could suffer an electrical shock should they contact the electrical lead. This risk may exist even when the charging station is turned off.
Corrective Action:
EV-Charge America will notify owners and the units can be returned for repair or an EVCA technician will repair the unit(s) onsite, free of charge. The recall began in September 2012. Owners may contact EVCA at 1-702-278-8005.
