Donald J. Trump (Republican) won the 2016 United States presidential elections held on November 8, 2016 beating Hillary Clinton (Democrat) to become the 45th US president. He was largely underestimated to win by many national pre-election polls, making his win one of the shocking wins in the history of US elections.

Despite losing the popular vote to Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump (R) defied all odds to win the electoral votes. Donald Trump received 304 electoral votes and Hillary Clinton (D) received 227 votes.

Most political commentators attributed Donald Trump's win to his unconventional style, political incorrectness, and his Reality TV experience. Others see him as a political genius, and there are still Others who believe that his win can be attributed to the fact that America was not ready for a female president. Whatever the reason may be, it is undeniable that Trump had a smart political strategy from the beginning, given that he easily bulldozed his way through the Republican primary candidates, stopping for nothing and taking no prisioners. While at the same time garnering most of the free media attention.
