US Total Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loan Amounts By Business State and Territory (2020)
According to data from the Small Businesss Administration (SBA), the SBA, as part of the paycheck protection program (PPP), has provided a total of 11,397,863 (11.40M) loans totaling $789,821,155,758 ($789.82B). The total number of jobs saved by these loans was 89,272,156 (89.27M). As at April 2025, 10.30M number of loans has been completely forgiven by SBA (90.40% of the total number of loans), and a total of $760.18B has been forgiven (96.25% of the total loan amount). The PPP program was intended to provide incentives for small businesses to keep their workers on payroll.

Total Loan Amount: In terms of total loan amounts given per business state, California received the highest ($103,162,981,309), followed by Texas ($62,747,145,690), and New York ($60,733,821,072).
Number of Loans: For total number of loans given to businesses in each state, California received the highest (1,270,597), followed by Florida (983,329), and Texas (938,525).
