Based on data from the US Department of Education, for the 2021-2022 school year, the following US states were among the top 5 who had the highest percentage of their students of All Grades being proficient in Reading or Language Arts: Maine (84.1%), Iowa (69.7%), Ohio (59.5%), Pennsylvania (55.1%), and Idaho (54.8%).

It was 30.6% for District of Columbia, and 10.4% for the Bureau of Indian Education.
