Based on data from the US Department of Education, for the 2021-2022 school year, the following US states were among the top 5 who had the highest percentage of their Grade 3 students being proficient in Reading or Language Arts: Maine (82.7%), Iowa (64.2%), Ohio (59.8%), Alabama (54.3%), and Florida (53.3%).
It was 25% for District of Columbia, and 8% for the Bureau of Indian Education.
