Based on data from the US Department of Education, for the 2021-2022 school year, the following US states were among the top 5 who had the highest percentage of their Grade 5 students being proficient in Reading or Language Arts: Maine (82.2%), Iowa (66.4%), Ohio (64.4%), Minnesota (59.4%), and Wyoming (57%).
It was 30.4% for District of Columbia, and 8% for the Bureau of Indian Education.
