Based on data from the US Department of Education, for the 2021-2022 school year, the following US states were among the top 5 who had the highest percentage of their Grade 7 students being proficient in Reading or Language Arts: Maine (86.6%), Iowa (71.6%), Ohio (60.3%), Idaho (57.8%), and Pennsylvania (56.5%).
It was 35.4% for District of Columbia, and 10% for the Bureau of Indian Education.
