Based on data from the US Department of Education, for the 2021-2022 school year, the following US states were among the top 5 who had the highest percentage of their Grade 5 students being proficient in Science, based on state-wide assessment: Nebraska (70.8%), North Carolina (63%), Ohio (62.9%), Iowa (59.2%), and Mississippi (58.1%).
