Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the Poverty Rate for the Black or African American Alone racial group in New York was 20.16%. Among all New York counties, the Black or African American Alone racial group had the highest poverty rate in Lewis County (62.15%), followed by Chautauqua County (50.29%), and Hamilton County (50%). On the other hand, the Black or African American Alone racial group had the lowest poverty rate in the following 3 counties: Rockland County (6.95%), Nassau County (6.98%), and Putnam County (8.45%).
