According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Illinois was 6.6% (sa) in January, 2003. Among all Illinois counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Grundy (10.2%), Boone (10.1%), and Alexander (9.9%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): McLean (4.2%), Champaign (4.6%), and Brown (4.7%).
