According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Illinois was 8.4% (sa) in January, 2009. Among all Illinois counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Boone (17%), Winnebago (13.7%), and Clark (13.6%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Brown (4.2%), Woodford (6.1%), and McLean (6.3%).
