According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Minnesota was 7.2% (sa) in January, 2009. Among all Minnesota counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Clearwater (20.4%), Kanabec (17.4%), and Mille Lacs (14.9%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Jackson (5.4%), Rock (5.6%), and Clay (6%).
