According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Washington was 6.8% (sa) in January, 2009. Among all Washington counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Skamania (13.7%), Pend Oreille (13.6%), and Stevens (13%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Whitman (4.6%), King (5.3%), and Snohomish (6.7%).
