According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Washington was 8.3% (sa) in June, 2009. Among all Washington counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Pend Oreille (13.1%), Wahkiakum (13%), and Cowlitz (12.2%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): San Juan (5.6%), Whitman (5.8%), and Walla Walla (6%).
