According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Washington was 9% (sa) in October, 2009. Among all Washington counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Clark (12.1%), Cowlitz (11.6%), and Pend Oreille (11.6%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Whitman (5%), Walla Walla (5.4%), and San Juan (5.7%).
