According to the FBI UCR data, in 2022, there were 53,581 adult arrests made in the US for motor vehicle theft offenses.

By Race: The highest number of those arrested were identified as White (37.44K), followed by Black or African American (14.41K), and American Indian or Alaska Native (974).

By Ethnicity: Ethnicity information was reported for 46,157 (86%) of those arrested. Among those for whom ethnicity was reported, the highest number were identified as Not Hispanic or Latino (33.19K), followed by Hispanic or Latino (12.96K).
