US Number of Total Arrests By Population Group for All Offenses in 2020

According to the FBI UCR data, in 2020, there were 5,291,886 total arrests made in the US for all offenses. There were 3,851,077 total arrests made in All Cities; 983,370 total arrests made in Metropolitan Counties; 457,439 total arrests made in Nonmetropolitan Counties; and 1,964,322 total arrests made in Suburban Areas.
In terms of rate of arrests per 100K inhabitants, Group VI - Cities had the highest (3,538), followed by Group V - Cities (2,599.2), and Nonmetropolitan Counties (2,414.1).

- Group I - Cities: Cities with a population of 250,000 and over.
- Group II - Cities: Cities with a population of 100,000 to 249,999.
- Group III - Cities: Cities with a population of 50,000 to 99,999.
- Group IV - Cities: Cities with a population of 25,000 to 49,999.
- Group V - Cities: Cities with a population of 10,000 to 24,999.
- Group VI - Cities: Cities with a population under 10,000.
