According to the FBI UCR data, in 2020, there were 8,564 adult arrests made in US metropolitan counties for motor vehicle theft offenses.

By Race: The highest number of those arrested were identified as White (6.85K), followed by Black or African American (1.55K), and Asian (81).

By Ethnicity: Ethnicity information was reported for 7,614 (89%) of those arrested. Among those for whom ethnicity was reported, the highest number were identified as Not Hispanic or Latino (5.45K), followed by Hispanic or Latino (2.16K).
