US Number of Total Arrests By Population Group for All Offenses in 2022

According to the FBI UCR data, in 2022, there were 5,901,221 total arrests made in the US for all offenses. There were 4,229,293 total arrests made in All Cities; 1,155,515 total arrests made in Metropolitan Counties; 516,413 total arrests made in Nonmetropolitan Counties; and 2,310,584 total arrests made in Suburban Areas.

In terms of rate of arrests per 100K inhabitants, Group VI - Cities had the highest (3,903.3), followed by Group V - Cities (2,551.1), and Nonmetropolitan Counties (2,355).

  1. Group I - Cities: Cities with a population of 250,000 and over.
  2. Group II - Cities: Cities with a population of 100,000 to 249,999.

  5. Group V - Cities: Cities with a population of 10,000 to 24,999.
  6. Group VI - Cities: Cities with a population under 10,000.
