Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2011, the South Dakota citizen population was 795.65K. The Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group had the highest citizen population (684.48K) and constituted 86.03% of the total. The Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native Alone ethnicity group had the second highest citizen population (67.53K) and constituted 8.49% of the total. The Hispanic or Latino of All Races ethnicity group had the third highest (17.68K), constituting 2.22% of the total citizen population.
