Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2020, the South Dakota citizen population was 857.61K. The Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group had the highest citizen population (714.49K) and constituted 83.31% of the total. The Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native Alone ethnicity group had the second highest citizen population (71.92K) and constituted 8.39% of the total.
