Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2016, the citizen population for Mississippi was 2,946,760 and represented 98.58% of the total Mississippi population.

Among all Mississippi counties, Hinds had the highest citizen population (241.64K), followed by Harrison (193.99K), and DeSoto (167.82K).
