Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2023, the South Dakota citizen voting-age population was 662.33K. The Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group had the highest citizen voting-age population (571.11K) and constituted 86.23% of the total. The Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native Alone ethnicity group had the second highest citizen voting-age population (41.80K) and constituted 6.31% of the total. The Hispanic or Latino of All Races ethnicity group had the third highest (17.70K), constituting 2.67% of the total citizen voting-age population.
