Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, there were 4,442,707 people in Alabama who had Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 90.30% of Alabama population), and 477,303 people who did not have a Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 9.70% of Alabama population).

The following age groups had the highest percentage of their population who did not have a health insurance coverage: the 26 - 34 Years age group (19.48%), followed by the 19 - 25 Years age group (18.64%), and the 35 - 44 Years age group (15.87%).
