Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, there were 9,076,155 people in North Carolina who had Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 89.26% of North Carolina population), and 1,092,162 people who did not have a Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 10.74% of North Carolina population).

The following age groups had the highest percentage of their population who did not have a health insurance coverage: the 26 - 34 Years age group (19.99%), followed by the 35 - 44 Years age group (17.62%), and the 19 - 25 Years age group (17.23%).
