Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, there were 7,699,252 people in Virginia who had Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 92.12% of Virginia population), and 658,732 people who did not have a Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 7.88% of Virginia population).

The following age groups had the highest percentage of their population who did not have a health insurance coverage: the 26 - 34 Years age group (13.79%), followed by the 19 - 25 Years age group (12.85%), and the 35 - 44 Years age group (11.52%).
