Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, 91.23% of the US population had a health insurance coverage (i.e. 296,329,423 people), and 8.77% did not have a health insurance coverage (i.e. 28,489,142 people).
By Race: The following racial groups had the highest percentage of their population group without a health insurance coverage: the Some Other Race Alone racial group (19.86%), the American Indian and Alaska Native Alone racial group (19.32%), and the Two Or More Races racial group (11.99%).
By Ethnicity: The Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group had 5.97% of its population without a health insurance coverage, and the Hispanic or Latino of All Races ethnicity group had 17.65% of its population without a health insurance coverage.
