Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2014, the Black or African American Alone population in Illinois was 1,899,480 and represented 14.74% of the total Illinois population (12,885,092).

Among Illinois counties, Cook County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (1,288,510), followed by St. Clair County (80,762), and Will County (80,449). Calhoun County had the lowest (13).
