Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2017, the Black or African American Alone population in Maryland was 1,859,574 and represented 30.85% of the total Maryland population (6,028,186).

Among Maryland counties, Prince George's County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (590,897), followed by Baltimore city (385,966), and Baltimore County (242,749). Garrett County had the lowest (286).
