Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2022, the Black or African American Alone population in Massachusetts was 661,489 and represented 9.47% of the total Massachusetts population (6,982,740).

Among Massachusetts counties, Suffolk County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (185,413), followed by Middlesex County (100,749), and Plymouth County (66,673). Dukes County had the lowest (1,117).
