Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2020, the Black or African American Alone population in Michigan was 1,430,870 and represented 14.21% of the total Michigan population (10,069,577).

Among Michigan counties, Wayne County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (691,886), followed by Oakland County (176,359), and Macomb County (114,481). Keweenaw County had the lowest (10).
