Mississippi Black or African American Alone Population By County in 2017

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2017, the Black or African American Alone population in Mississippi was 1,129,820 and represented 37.78% of the total Mississippi population (2,990,674).

Among Mississippi counties, Hinds County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (174,184), followed by Harrison County (52,208), and DeSoto County (49,913). Tishomingo County had the lowest (496).
