Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2021, the Black or African American Alone population in New York was 3,541,615 and represented 17.84% of the total New York population (19,857,492).

Among New York counties, Kings County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (886,132), followed by Bronx County (627,744), and Queens County (486,520). Hamilton County had the lowest (71).
