Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, the American Indian and Alaska Native Alone population in Virginia was 45,309 and represented 0.54% of the total Virginia population (8,417,651).

Among Virginia counties, Fairfax County had the highest number of people who identified as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (6,591), followed by Prince William County (5,019), and Virginia Beach city (2,074). Highland County had the lowest (5).
