According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, among Essex, NJ population of 863,728 people, 38.79% (335,047) identified their race as Black or African American Alone, 30.27% (261,487) identified their race as White Alone, and 14.37% (124,085) identified their race as Some Other Race Alone.
