Alabama Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 1,296,162 people in Alabama who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 25.80% of the total population of Alabama. Jefferson County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (281,326), followed by Mobile County (146,254), and Montgomery County (130,467). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Winston County (141), Cleburne County (466), and Blount County (845).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Greene County had the highest percentage, with 80.80% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Macon County (79.06%), and Sumter County (72.88%).
