Alaska Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 21,898 people in Alaska who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 2.99% of the total population of Alaska. Anchorage Municipality had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (14,576), followed by Fairbanks North Star Borough (4,014), and Matanuska-Susitna Borough (1,121). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Wrangell City and Borough (0), Lake and Peninsula Borough (2), and Haines Borough (2).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Aleutians East Borough had the highest percentage, with 8.68% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Anchorage Municipality (5.01%), and Aleutians West Census Area (4.95%).
