According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 388,675 people in Connecticut who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 10.78% of the total population of Connecticut. Hartford County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (127,194), followed by New Haven County (118,933), and Fairfield County (106,756). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Windham County (2,403), Litchfield County (3,348), and Tolland County (5,450).
In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Hartford County had the highest percentage, with 14.14% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by New Haven County (13.75%), and Fairfield County (11.15%).
