Indiana Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 648,513 people in Indiana who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 9.56% of the total population of Indiana. Marion County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (268,694), followed by Lake County (124,073), and Allen County (44,481). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Warren County (8), Switzerland County (16), and Ohio County (16).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Marion County had the highest percentage, with 27.50% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Lake County (24.88%), and St. Joseph County (13.24%).
