Michigan Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 1,376,579 people in Michigan who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 13.66% of the total population of Michigan. Wayne County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (674,782), followed by Oakland County (170,753), and Macomb County (109,476). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Keweenaw County (5), Oscoda County (8), and Ontonagon County (8).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Wayne County had the highest percentage, with 37.62% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Genesee County (19.67%), and Saginaw County (18.21%).
